Phnom Penh: The government will lower the price for container export and import for the garment and footwear sector from April 1, a senior minister at the Ministry of Economy and Finance said.
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance Aun Porn Moniroth said at a meeting on tax law and governance last week that lowering the price of container scan will begin from April 1, 2019.
With the elimination of the spending, the garment and footwear industry will gain $ 80 million profit and $3.2 million from the reduction of container scan, he said, the discount for container shipments would be similar to that of rice exports with a $10 fee for a 20-feet container and $16 for 40-feet container.
The government would also lose about $32 million in revenue, but the private sector would earn about $43 million from the cancel of Camcontrol’s permanent position from the international, border gate, airports and ports, he added.
