PM announces the closure of the February 20 event

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, has announced the closure of the February 20 event, which is an event for the spread of Covid 19.

Samdech sent a special message to his compatriots and was distributed through various media this morning, December 20, that during the 20-month event in Cambodia, there were 120,423 infected cases and 3,005 deaths of Covid-19.

In particular, today is the first day none of new COVID-19 death reported, according to a press release of the Ministry of Health.

Still, 7 new infections were recorded, two of which were imported and the rest were linked to the February 20 community outbreak. The tally now stood at 120,423, including 19,859 imported cases.

“This can be considered as a success or can be said to be a reduction in the failure of the 19 Covid disease, which I always say no, the word success, but can say that the damage is not big,” Samdech said.

“We cannot say that we have succeeded in fighting this disease, but we can say that we have succeeded in preventing this disease from falling into the abyss of death,” he added.

In his closing remarks, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked Chinese friends for their strong support in supplying Covid-19 vaccines to Cambodia. He also thanked the United States, Japan, Australia, Covax, etc. for providing vaccines to Cambodia, especially to the Armed Forces, doctors, which we call the “Army in White”.
